I have different perspective if you are overweight and have a black ring or areas of blackness where your skin creases you most likely have insulin resistance. It is a prediabetic syndrom. Many people with it also have skin tags, or those flat looking moles. You might also notice that when you extend your joints (so your skin is gathered rather than streached) those areas will look dark as well. Ask your doctor to have you tested. Many doctors put you on meds that will help you loose weight and suggest a diet and exercise plan. Ill tell you from experience the meds give you lots of gas and it reaks. This syndrome makes the body create too much insulin. Your cells are too full of fat to soak up the insulin your body creates so it just keeps making more so the over abundance will get as least some into your cells. The black ring is the insulin leaving your body, it wont rub or clean off. I was able to get mine under control with a low carb diet, but you really need to talk to your doctor. If you do not handle it you will be come diabetic. Good luck!

  2. I think you all readers should try using 100% cocoa butter! I’ve had a few dark spots on my body before for different reasons and they aren’t there anymore because I CONSISTENTLY used the cocoa butter. Hope this works for you!

You did not get this because you’re dirty. Soap has nothing to do with this. It’s a skin condition that some people of color get (but it doesn’t exclusively hit people of color only). Your best bet is to see a doctor about the hyperpigmentation and get treatment that way and to make sure there is no underlying illness that’s causing it. You might, for instance, have a skin condition called acanthosis nigricans (AN), which is usually harmless physically but might be a symptom of something else.

  4. It could be acanthosis nigricans which is a skin condition characterized by dark, thick, velvety skin in body folds and creases. Most often, acanthosis nigricans affects your armpits, groin and neck. With acanthosis nigricans, you may naturally be concerned about the appearance of your skin. Some steps may help lighten the affected areas of your skin. There’s no specific treatment for acanthosis nigricans — but treating any underlying conditions, such as diabetes and obesity, may cause the changes in your skin changes to fade Characteristics of acanthosis nigricans include: a. Skin changes. Skin changes are the only signs of acanthosis nigricans. You’ll notice dark, thick, velvety skin in body folds and creases — typically in your armpits, groin and neck. Sometimes the lips, palms or soles of the feet are affected as well. b. Slow progression. The skin changes appear slowly, sometimes over months or years. c. Possible itching. Rarely, the affected areas may itch. ————- Acanthosis nigricans is often associated with conditions that increase your insulin level, such as type 2 diabetes or being overweight. If your insulin level is too high, the extra insulin may trigger activity in your skin cells. This may cause the characteristic skin changes. In some cases, acanthosis nigricans is inherited. Certain medications — such as human growth hormone, oral contraceptives and large doses of niacin — can contribute to the condition. Other hormone problems, endocrine disorders or tumors may play a role as well. Rarely, acanthosis nigricans is associated with certain types of cancer Acanthosis nigricans can begin at any age. It’s most obvious in people who have dark skin.

I know that when people arent very healthy things like this can happen. For example: when ppl have dark spots under their eyes is becasue they dont eat well or they dont sleep well. It could also mean that when you go outside you look down and the sun hits your neck first…put sunblock on it. EVERYDAY! Sunblockers can help in treating black necks.

  7. My skin is light brown. However, my neck is very dark. People quickly notice that my neck is darker then my face. My neck has little rings going around it too. I am overweight (14 and 200 pounds). So what causes this? And what can I do do combat it and get my neck to become the same color as my face and rest of body? I have been told this is caused by being overweight and I have diabetes devoploping. But, when I scrub or scratch my neck when it s moisturized Dirty comes off! a lot of it. SO I;m thinking this aint caused by being fat. am I right?
